Don’t Just Go

So you did the time audit exercise and you’re not spending your time the way you want. How do you get from where you are to where you are in the ideal day in your life?

The same way you’d want to get anywhere you’ve not been to before: by planning ahead.

Say you’re going to a friend’s new house and all you have is the address. You could just get in the car or jump on a bus and figure out how to get there based on your previous experience of the area. It’s possible that you’d get to your friend’s house, but it would probably take a lot more time and energy that you’d want to expend.

That’s why when we are going to someplace new, we are most likely going to put the address into Google Maps or Waze and get a plan for how to get there. That is the most efficient and effective way of getting from point A to point B.

The same goes for how we get to new places in our lives: new habits, journeys, and identities.

Let’s normalize setting a plan for where you want to get in life, the same way that using GPS is normalized. In the coming weeks I’ll be showing you how. Stay tuned.
